Final Public Hearing of the Task Force for Advanced Manufacturing

On 9 October 2013 the European Commission’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology task force will hold the final public hearing on how advanced manufacturing technologies for clean production can boost the competitiveness of EU industry.

This Task Force aims to co-ordinate Union efforts to increase the competitiveness of Europe's manufacturing industry, by fostering the development, and speeding up the market uptake, of European advanced manufacturing technologies by industry. This process requires a constant focus on improving the skills of Europe's workers and keeping them up to date.

The European Commission's Industrial Policy Communication update of 10 October 2012 aims at boosting the weight of industry in Europe from its current level of around 16 percent of GDP to 20 percent by 2020. To achieve this ambitious target it is important that – innovative people from business, research, academia, as well as government and non-governmental organisations – voice their ideas about concrete actions that could increase the competiveness of Europe's manufacturing industry.

The objective of the forthcoming Public Hearing is to present the Task Force draft report, to open up for a final discussion about its content and to look into the future and the possible follow-up to the Task Force.

The High Level Conference will take place on Wednesday 9 October 2013, from 9:30 - 15:00 at the European Commission, Breydel building (Auditorium), Avenue d'Auderghem 45, B-1049 Brussels.
